Volleyball!

We love volleyball at our house, but I hadn't had the opportunity to make volleyball cookies until this week.  Thanks Kelly - hope your girls like their cookies!

Pink and Blue Flowers

Is it spring yet?  Please hurry, I am so tired of the cold, rainy, weather - how about you?

These cookies were made as door prizes for a trivia contest for a local daycare center.
Hopefully those who might win them will be looking for some spring, too!

Life's a Bowl Of Cherries...

Life's a bowl of cherries....or so the saying goes. Well, maybe it's a plate of cherry cordial cookies! These were made just so I could try the Cherry Cordial cutouts by Sweet Sugar Belle. I must say they were a hit in the office!

My Posting at Frosting for the Cause

Today was a special day - I have a post over at Frosting for the Cause!  Be sure to go check it out - it's a great way that bloggers are raising money for cancer-related organizations.  It's an honor to be included.

Hearts Galore....

I had the opportunity to send 150 heart cookies to my friend, Cheryl, who is working overseas.  It was quite the challenge for me to get them done, since I could only work on them at night, after I ran my son to his sports practices.  Normally my husband does the running around for the practices, but with him out of town, I got to try to be SuperMom for a few days.  Epic fail!  But at least I did get the cookies finished and shipped by the time I had to leave town for a meeting.  The house is another story.....

In making 150 cookies, I had plenty of opportunity to try some different designs. Some I like better than others, but overall, I'm pretty satisfied with them.  Hope you like them, too!

Cheerleaders and Flip Flops...in January?

A good friend asked me if I'd be willing to make some cookies for her to take to some special friends.  Of course, I said yes....but then she said she wanted cheerleaders.  Uh oh.  I wasn't sure I'd be able to make cheerleaders!  Flickr to the rescue.....honestly I don't know what I'd do without the inspiration from the talented bakers and decorators who willingly post their unique creations for others to review.  I can sometimes closely replicate a design, but designing from NOTHING is really, really hard for me.

The inspiration for the cheerleaders came from Sugar Deaux.

I'd made flip flops before, but again, went to Flickr to get inspiration.  This time, by Montreal Confections.

I was pleased enough with what I did, but I have to learn more PATIENCE when it comes to decorating cookies....I don't wait long sometimes between colors.   Anyone else have that problem?  I get so excited to see the "final product" that I sometimes sabotage my own efforts.

Thanks Debra, for letting me make these for you and your friends.  I hope the girls really enjoy them!

More Football!

My friend Kim asked me to make Philadelphia Eagles cookies.  Hmmm, no Kopykake projector to try to make that logo.....and I was worried I wouldn't be able to match their teal-blue colors, either!

Well, I think I did okay on the color - it's interesting mixing Americolor drops to see if I get the right shade.  I was so worried about the color, that I don't think I spent enough time getting my consistency of flood icing thin enough.  Insert *big sigh* here.  Luckily the birthday boy will be more interested in eating the cookies than analyzing them.  :)   Oh, and the 18 is for his favorite player, Jeremy Maclin.

Lots to still learn about decorating cookies, but I am very grateful for my friends who give me chances to experiment.  Thanks so much!
